Cultural Exchange at Work

I was recently delighted to receive an email from a young acquaintance who became a FaceBook friend. In the way of Cultural Exchange (see also the Articles page above) she has been inspired by Eric Bogle's "Singing the Spirit Home" played 14th October 2012.

She writes ...

Hi Richard,

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get this to you. I had intended to send it to you right after I got back from Melb just over a week ago.
Anyway here is the art piece for "Sing The Spirit Home"

More of Emma's work can be found by following this link

her "HellHounds Song" drawing reminds me of the reaction most have to a neighbour's garage band practising twenty feet away during the hours for sleeping.

I commented on another superb Cultural Exchange example on the FaceBook home page during the week.

Highlights of my week

Having a local council worker tell me that she only wants to hear good things about the area. So I gave her a glass of prussic acid and told her that the glass is half full....

And in another shire not a thousand miles away an elderly woman tells me that "I have been treated for the chemical smoke over 24 times, provided doctors certificates and still they say no proof where the smoke/chemical is coming from?  I will need to have a horticulturalist test my dead plants."

They are her local Council, EPA, State Health Service, State Police and now Federal Human Rights Commissioner responsible for the rights of the elderly. That they have all washed their hands of the matter saying it is a private matter for her to prove that a neighbour is subjecting her to toxic gasses or that Australian law does not cover the matter is unacceptable. I wonder what would happen if the same occurred to them?

Research on the internet identifies that equipment exists to test for these gasses but has not been used to monitor what gasses are coming into her property. Nor have medical certificates been asked for or examined. Will it not occur until the coroner's inquest?

The whole issue has either been handled with all the finesse and intelligence of the clowns in a back-block's one ring circus or with all the efficiency and odour of corrupt cover up.

Isn't it time that someone, like the UN Human Rights Commission held Australia and these people to account? Isn't it time the citizens demanded that they receive accountability, value and protection through the expenditure of their hard earned tax payments?

Other than the current number of people affected, this has no significant difference in outcome than the systemic genocide implemented during Pol Pot and Hitler's regimes. Eventually this woman could die as a result of these poisonous emissions entering her property and affecting her physical and mental health.

You can listen to Rjn reading AlfredNoyes'

“Daddy fell into the Pond” on SoundCloud.

Have a ffffolking good week.

This weeks comment:

What do I think of professional journalists who are deemed award winners at their places of learning who cannot get off their backsides and investigate in the field to obtain the news or public opinion but expect it to be emailed to them?

Particularly when the said journalist further compounded their unprofessional behaviour by displaying a degree of parochialism that would embarass even the most rabid cleric in his local parish.

What has occurred appears to be a training or parochialism that will not allow Australian university trained brain understand that a failure to create protective law within Australia means that the absence of protection in Melbourne or Sydney results in as much if not more in risk occurring in backwaters like the Wimmera.

What a load of unprofessional knuckle shuffling nonsense. And the newspaper owners think that the public will pay to purchase such newspapers. Come back John Pilger, "all is forgiven" you are needed to further expose/improve the quality of the local training and selective reporting.

Tune in or chew your own ears off.

Next Sunday Celtic theme.
