Australian living history & people's long memories.

This is a fantastic presentation of recordings & performances by some of the Australia's best in the last 75 years.
I once knew many of their songs & some through their live performances & interviews. I kept their performances alive broadcasting their recordings on community radio.

1st & foremost it is always entertainment. However  I consider the heritage aspect to be priceless & in Australia neglected apart from the few who fight against the odds to preserve it. In this Mammon indoctrinated world of "money talks bullshit walks" the incalculable worth of heritage has been forgotten. As I once said to the Australian parliament "only a fool discards his heritage without finding out what it is worth". Recent governments have preferred to allow Australians to be inculcated & indoctrinated by American godbothering evangelists who have encircled the Australian citizens with their proselytising local community radio stations.  The broadcasts have little to do with enabling intelligent communities.

I recommend the BMC video of the 2012 Nationals performance to all, whether folkie, Australian or not.

vale Bill Arnott & John Thompson

News has just been received of the deaths of Bill Arnott organiser of the Merry Muse and John Thompson (d.04.02.2021) co-founder of Cloudstreet.

My lasting memory of Bill was the year that I found him in tears following the destruction of his carefully decorated venue at the Nationals by festival goers who used the venue for other purpose.
Of John I interviewed him once at the Nationals and was saddened by his lack of understanding that the music genre is not just about personal ego & monetary reward but for the enhancement of all.
